The classic ship's hourglass would hang next to the helmsman, held between two lengths of rigging line. On a desk this is impractical. Which is the reason for designing this elegant, yet sturdy desk stand which enables the owner to count working watches and strike the bell. Remember ? At 2:30 PM it was five bells.... Made of bronze and wood, a tapered column holds the curving hook which holds the glass.
